Stenhouse Jr. takes pole for Nationwide race at Darlington

Darlington, SC (Sports Network) - Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will start on the pole for Friday night's VFW Sports Clips Help a Hero 200 Nationwide Series race after turning in the fastest lap in qualifying at Darlington Raceway.

Stenhouse, the current points leader, posted a lap at 173.546 mph for his first pole of the season and the fifth in his Nationwide career.

Denny Hamlin's lap at 172.784 mph earned him the outside pole. Rookie Austin Dillon qualified third, followed by Kurt Busch and Joey Logano.

Elliott Sadler, Brian Scott, Sam Hornish Jr., Kasey Kahne and Justin Allgaier completed the top-10.

Stenhouse currently holds a five-point advantage over Sadler.

Danica Patrick will start 15th in her first Nationwide race at Darlington. Patrick is also competing in Saturday night's Sprint Cup Series event here.

Ryan Blaney qualified 17th, and Travis Pastrana placed 25th. Both drivers are making their second Nationwide starts. They made their series debuts two weeks ago at Richmond.

All 43 drivers who attempted qualifying made the starting field for the 200- mile race, which is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. (ET).
