Memphis extends Schoenrock's contract
Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - The University of Memphis has rewarded head baseball coach Daron Schoenrock with a two-year contract extension through the 2012-13 season.
He just led the Tigers to their fourth 30-win season since 1995.
"We have recommended that coach Schoenrock contract as head baseball coach at the University of Memphis be extended for two years," athletics director R.C. Johnson said. "The squad was very competitive this season with several notable victories, and with the completion of FedEx Park, we see no reason why improvement in Tiger baseball should not continue for many years."
Schoenrock is entering his eighth season at the helm of the baseball program. The 2011 team advanced to the Conference USA Tournament for the fourth time in the last seven years, and earned three wins over ranked opponents.
"It is great to know we are getting the support of athletic director R.C. Johnson and the administration team to keep this program moving forward," Schoenrock said. "The support from administration is always a big factor in recruiting. My family and I would like to thank the University of Memphis and R.C. Johnson for getting this done."
Since Schoenrock took over the program in 2005, Memphis has posted a 177-225 record and earned a place in the 2007 NCAA Regional field.
